more climbing and mangled feet

this past weekend was not much different than many others. it saw us heading out of the city to explore new areas and to get some outdoor climbing in. it was, however, different in how the day ended: with a successful leader fall catch and some mangled toes.

the nice thing about having learned how to rock climb with professional guides during an intensive stint in the rocky mountains, is that safety has been drilled into us every since the beginning. before i knew what an indoor rock climbing gym felt like, with its artificial holds, i knew how to lead climb very basic routes and how to catch someone falling off of said basic routes.

and it all came into handy dandy practice this weekend as matt reached out in desperation for his final hold on a long and tiring route, and i proceeded to catch him as he sailed through the air for twenty feet before the rope caught. this may sound slightly scary, especially for our mom's who i know will be reading this, but in actuality, aside from a few rattled nerves and a set of mangled toes as i flew up the wall a few meters, i'm proud to say that we performed the perfect execution of a leader fall.

and since, as i mentioned, our mother's are reading this, i will now leave off with a stream of beautiful photos rather than fall details, since i know that's what everyone is interested in anyways.

Glad all y'all are still alive (with the exception of a few skin and keratin cells, which were bound to slough off in a few days, anyways).
