Sedona, Arizona

my good friend Krisz stated that it was a 'must-see' region in our vicinity, so last weekend we loaded up the dogs at a bright and early 6:00am and headed out for a hike to some swimming holes i had read about in a random trail book.

the rocks were big and red and gorgeous. and the water was clear and cool and refreshing for a couple of pups who have spent the last three months covered in a thick layer of red arizona dust. the temperature started creeping up into the 30C's shortly after we hit the trail and after an early river-side lunch it was imperative that we start the trek back out before the dogs reached the point of physical inability to move more than five feet due to their big fur coats absorbing the hot summer sun.

on the way in we had the trail to ourselves, on the way out however, we were passing groups upon groups of people headed for the deep pools we had just left. while in the wee hours of the morning i tend to forget, there really are always perks of rolling out of bed and hitting the trails early. in arizona, it seems to be the only chance you have at some semblance of solitude in the wilderness.

You made it! Is that last photo chicken point?? Oh yeah, if you want to get away from people, especially during the northern winter when people like to venture south to escape that white stuff we think is wonderful, hop on a bike and pedal away, far far away!! Oh right, you don't do that...
