i'm pretty classic for 'counting down' before each new adventure begins. i pack two weeks in advance, having to unpack and repack numerous times because i still need everything i've packed away before my departure date. i typically make plans and anticipate the next phase for weeks before, getting more and more excited as the days count down. this time however, the end has snuck up on me without so much as a, "one more week 'till i leave!". you'd think that after four months of field work i'd be getting ready to move on. ready to switch back to the diurnal lifestyle. ready to settle back into my scheduled school life with my favorite restaraunts and little coffee shops. but it doesn't quite seem like i am. and who can blame me when i just spent the weekend playing on stand up paddleboards, riding a raft through huge whitewater holes, and piddling around in a kayak. i can see how some people get a little tired of field work, but when you have great people in town and the slave river to enjoy, i'm pretty sure i could do field work all year long.
moral of the story: if you're doing field work, take some time to play!
